An ultrasonic mist chamber for E Ink film trials, designed and built within days to meet a testing deadline.
E Ink display film samples needed to be tested under controlled humidity conditions. I designed and fabricated a sealed misting chamber that uses an ultrasonic humidifier to generate a fine mist and circulate it evenly across the sample area. The chamber was turned around quickly to meet an upcoming trial schedule.
The design started with rough sketches exploring chamber geometry and airflow paths. FEA was used to verify that the acrylic enclosure could handle the internal pressure without deflection. The vent and diffuser components were 3D printed and iterated to achieve even mist distribution.
The finished chamber produced a consistent mist environment suitable for the film trials. The 3D printed vent directed airflow evenly across the sample surface, and the sealed acrylic body maintained the target humidity levels throughout each test run.
